The Well Society Board met on January 22nd 2018 for our monthly scheduled board meeting. The meeting was attended by Douglas Dickie, Doug Inglis, Maureen Kirkwood, Tom Feely, Gavin Whitefield and Sandy Kilpatrick with apologies from Jason Henderson, Markus Schieren and Craig Hughes.
Previous minutes were reported on and agreed.
Update from the Executive Board:
Douglas Dickie provided an update from the Executive Board regarding the daily running of the Club. The following points were made.
- a) The Manager knows his budget and has full control of signings.
- b) New Signings- Ciftici, Main and Aldred added to the squad with the Manager still looking to add a left back. Young players Livingstone, McMillan and Watt heading out on loan. Peter Hartley also close to signing a new deal.
- c) Well Society income for 2017 was £194,000 from all sources.
- d) £35,000 raised through our share sale, which we will open again.
It was agreed that we should invite Stevie Hammell and Paul Burns to the next board meeting to discuss ways in which we can help support the Youth Academy.
There are still a considerable number of members who don’t contribute at least annually who we will continue to try to reach out to.
Well Society Funds
As of 22nd of December 2017, funds stood at £126,995.
We are due to invest a further £80,000 in Motherwell FC.
The first meeting will take place in March/April with full support from the Club’s Commercial Department.
The Well Society will also have an exhibit at the Lanarkshire Business Show on 27th February 10:00-2:30pm. This will be an excellent opportunity to promote the Business Club.
Sports Direct Scotland
Maureen due to meet with Andrew Jenkins of SDS for a catch up meeting. They are offering the possibility of producing a “One Year On” video.
Match Day Presence
Maureen and Jason suggested that we replace our matchday tables with a 30 minute Twitter and Facebook chat before every home match. To be managed by Craig, Jason and Maureen.
Foundation of Hearts
Douglas and Tom arranging a follow up meeting with the Foundation of Hearts Board to discuss closer co-operation.
This year the Ex-Players Club celebrate their 30th Anniversary. Gavin Whitefield met with Cammy Murray to discuss holding a special evening in the Cooper Suite including a video presentation of highlights from the 1951/52 Cup Final.
We could possibly produce a programme and DVD for sale with all proceeds going to the Well Society.
Agreed we should fully support this event.
