This week, the Scottish Football Supporters Association announced the winners of their annual fan awards for 2017 and we were delighted to have our very own Tom Feely amongst the victors as he was voted “Fan of the Year.”
Tom was recognised for the countless hours of work he puts in on a voluntary basis as Joint Chair of the Well Society.
Tom also recently attracted some attention in the press after cutting short his family holiday in Australia to make it home in time to see his beloved Steelmen in the Betfred Cup Final.
The SFSA represent the views of over 70,000 Scottish Football fans and their annual awards cover a number of categories in Scottish Football, with Kieran Tierney and Sir Alex Ferguson amongst the winners.
Motherwell Football Club were also honoured, winning the Best Club Marketing Award for 2017 – during the last year, the club has seen a significant increase in attendances, season ticket sales, and Well Society memberships.
On receiving the award, Tom said “ I’m delighted personally to receive this award, however I think it’s more an award for everyone involved in the Well Society for their tremendous support and hard work.
We now have close to 2400 members who have supported us through our first year in fan ownership and this award is fantastic recognition of the positive impact the Well Society have made. “
Paul Goodwin, Chief Executive of the SFSA, said “We were delighted to offer Tom this award as many Well fans spoke of his huge commitment to the club and to the development of Community Ownership with the Well Society. Tom and the many other valuable nominations we received show how loyal most fans are to the club they love and how important they are to the game.”
We were delighted to welcome Paul as our guest to the match against Partick Thistle on Saturday and we would like to thank the SFSA for all their support.
