Nostalgia Evening: Fans Go Back Down Memory Lane at Fir Park!

A capacity crowd at the Fir Park Cooper Suite last Friday enjoyed a successful “Nostalgia Evening “ jointly organised by the Motherwell FC Former Players’ Club and the Well Society . The evening included recordings of matches from 1950 to 2000, a short quiz and a number of former players were present including four members of the 1991 Scottish Cup Winning Side – Captain Tom Boyd , Stevie Kirk , Craig Paterson and Jim Griffin who did a first class job introducing the match highlights .

Pies served at “half time “ were very kindly donated  by James Chapman Butchers Ltd and Honorary President of the Club.  John Chapman OBE was there and drew the raffle , which along with sums raised from an auction and ticket sales generated at least £1,700 for Well Society Funds. This  will be further  increased to more than £3,400,  thanks to the “Double Your Money “ offer from former owner Les Hutchison .

An excellent Commemorative Programme produced for the event  was jointly sponsored by Well Society Board Members Tom Feely of Feely and Company, Chartered Accountants, Wishaw and Sandy Kilpatrick , Managing Director of Maxim Power Tools (Scotland ) Ltd .

The evening provided a great opportunity for fans to reflect on the Club’s very proud history , remember tremendous footballing highlights and acknowledge the contribution that so many people have made , both on and off the pitch over the years.

The organisers would like to once again thank sponsors, supporters and everyone who contributed to such a memorable evening.

As the first top flight club in the UK  to be owned by its supporters the drive continues to further increase membership of the Well Society and build on the  very valued  commitment of members to date ,ensuring that all supporters can look forward to many more Well highlights in the future . As the Club  nears  the end of its first full season under fan ownership and having already competed in one national final and now looking forward to the Scottish Cup Final on 19th May, this indeed could be the time for “New Heroes “ to be remembered for many years to come!
